The term arises because of their lives in mountainous or inland are as that are not touched by external influences and technology.
But unlike today, they understand and recognize technological and educational developments like other citizens, but what is still maintained are various rules, customs and characteristics of the village atmosphere, so that when it is interesting to be known more closely.

Including the meeting hall is very defending the customs and traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation. Building materials still use a mixture of soil, river stones and red bricks. Being here as if visitors were ushered in the past, with a calm rural atmosphere far from noise, adding to its uniqueness to become a mandatory agenda in arranging tour events in Bali.
Another unique thing is that the marriage system applied in the village of Tenganan adheres to the Parental system and gives equal rights and degrees to women and men as heirs, in contrast to Balinese culture in general which gives men as the main heirs.
Tenganan residents are also bound by village rules that require every citizen to conduct a marriage with fellow citizens of Tenganan. Other customary rules regulate the management of natural resources such as the prohibition of selling land outside the village, the prohibition rules for saving and borrowing from banks.
In logging, through a complicated process, residents must report to customary elders to cut down trees, not be allowed to cut wood that is still alive properly, and the wood can be cut down if it is declared 3/4 of the tree is dead, and even this must be carrying at least 5 witnesses to confirm the truth.
With these rules in the village of Tenganan, being able to avoid logging illegally, it would be nice if this rule could be adopted by other villages in Bali, so as to avoid the occurrence of illegal logging. And customary sanctions are certainly imposed if they violate these rules.
Having a unique culture and tradition Mekare-kare or Mageret Pandan (pandan war) is one of the unique traditions in the village of Tenganan which was held in the Sasih Sambah ceremony, as a form of homage to Dewa Indra, the god of war who defeated the despotic king Maya Denawa, held once a year at Sasih Kalima Bali calendar.
When the event was held, all the people wore traditional clothes, the women wore clothing with a distinctive Pegringsingan woven cloth, while the men without top clothes were ready to carry out a rivalry in front of the village meeting hall (Bale Patemu) with a bunch of pandanus standing in the hands to attack their opponents.
Geringsing woven fabric is an original work of the citizens of Tenganan, using the rare double ikat weaving technique you find today, so that these local handicrafts are quite famous and become high-quality works, even for a piece of fabric with the best quality results can take time up to 2 years to complete.
In general, residents of the village of Tenganan, have geringsing cloth up to the age of hundreds of years and are used when there are special ceremonies such as during the Sasih Sambah ceremony, during a tooth-cutting ceremony and marriage. The word Geringsing that is inherent in naming the results of the weaving works is from the word “gering” which means sick and “sing” means no, combined into the word “no pain” in this case the Geringsing cloth serves as a repellent.
There are so many uniqueness presented by the village of Tenganan, so that you who are on tour in Bali, can schedule a tour to the East Bali region (Kabuapaten Karangasem) can package your tour to this Bali Aga village. A number of local handicrafts such as woven fabrics are displayed in people’s homes that you can buy as souvenirs from Tenganan.
Next is by visiting one of the hidden beach in the east name Virgin Beach:
Virgin Bali Beach or often called Virgin Beach is located in Bugbug Village, Karangasem regency, and this beach is called the local community of White Bias Beach. Indeed, in fact, this hidden beach has white sand. With the waves that are not so heavy, as well as a coral bulge on the left and right of the beach, so that it becomes a very interesting tourist attraction to visit.
The still traditional atmosphere at Virgin Beach, such as food stall hut, clothing sellers and so on, still uses traditional styles. Buildings with the main material of wood, roofed with straw. Like most other beach tourism objects in Bali, lazy Chair is still available for tourists who want to enjoy the atmosphere and views of Virgin Beach while lying down. It also looks right in the middle of the view between the rocks that limit Virgin Beach, which is a green promontory. This is another view of Virgin Beach or Virgin Breach from other beaches in Bali.
The atmosphere of Virgin Beach:
It makes a relaxed atmosphere when visiting Virgin Beach, the furthest from the atmosphere of the sound of motorbikes and other engines, because it is far away from the highway. This is one reason for European tourists who are very fond to relax on this beach.
Mileage Towards Virgin Beach:
Depending on where tourists spend the night, with good road access, the distance is not a problem when visiting Virgin Beach. When tourists stay in the hotel area of Candidasa, it will only take about 15 minutes. But for those who stay in the Kuta hotel area, then the trip is a little far, which is around 2 hours. But with a number of combinations of tourist visits such as visiting the Traditional Tenganan Village, Kerta Gosa, Goa Lawah, Then the trip will not feel far away.
After short stop at Virgin beach, we will continue our tours to Tirta Gangga Royal Pool;
Tirta Gangga tourist attraction, was once a royal water park in Karangasem in eastern Bali. At present the Tirta Gangga Karangasem park serves as a tourist place in eastern Bali. If you have questions, are there tourist attractions that are rarely visited in Bali by Indonesian tourists, this water park in Bali is the answer.
The majority of tourists who vacation in the Tirta Gangga Karangasem park are foreign tourists. But now, the tourist attraction of the Tirta Gangga water park has begun to attract Indonesian tourists, although not much.
There are three main things in the Taman Tirta Gangga Karangasem, gardens, water ponds and statues. The location of the Tirta Gangga Karangasem park, located in the middle of the rice fields and water in this park comes from the spring of Rejasa. This park still belongs to the kingdom of Karangasem.
The area of the park is 1.2 hectares of Tirtagangga, which extends and stretches from east to west. There are three levels of buildings in the Tirtagangga Bali park. In the tallest building there is a spring under the banyan tree. The second level building, there is a swimming pool and the lowest building is an ornamental pool with a fountain.
When tourists enter the Tirtagangga park, the first thing tourists see is the expanse of a pool of water and there is one temple that rises high on the right. In the water pool, tourists can see ornamental fish and the bottom of the pond. The water in this park is very clear and cool, because pond water comes from springs not from processed water. Springs in the Tirtagangga park by local people are considered holy water. Used in religious ceremonies in the area around the Tirtagangga park.
Mata Air Rejasa has a very large amount of water, clear and soothing. One third of the supply of the Rejasa spring is sent to homes in the city of Amlapura (the capital city of Karangasem) and two thirds is used to fill the pond and the output from pond water is directly used for agriculture.
History of Tirta Gangga Karangasem:
The name of the tourist attraction Tirta Gangga, comes from the word Tirta which means holy water and Ganga which means the name of the river in India. Tirtagangga Karangasem water park, was built in 1946 by the king of Karangasem, Anak Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem Agung. The Tirta Gangga Karangasem garden complex was previously destroyed by the eruption of Mount Agung in 1963. The Karangasem district government rebuilt this park and was intended for tourist areas.
Lunch will be served at local restaurant with Indonesian food.
Last trip and spend more time for photo and selfie at Lempuyang Madya Temple:

Puras of Mount Lempuyang, represented by Lempuyang Luhur Temple, the highest temple in the area, grouped one temple complex representing Sad Kahyangan Luhur Lempuyang Temple. Temple groups are considered part of Sad Kahyangan Jagad, or “six world reserves”, the six most sacred places of worship in Bali.
